Design Management

Design Management is key during the procurement process
and the detail design of complex infrastructure projects.

Each project is different, and the scope and responsibilities of
a Design Manager is complex; micp-engineering experience provides
de leadership and technical knowledge to:

  • Develop design strategies based on innovative, creative, practical and cost effective ideas.
  • Provide a constant clear communication link between different parties (clients, contractors, designers) and different technical specialties (geotech, structures, drainage, tunneling, etc.).
  • Lead, motivate, delegate, appraise and support the design staff
to ensure the team is fully driven to achieve best performance.
  • Manage schedules and expectations.
  • Work with clients to effectively understand their needs.
  • Advise on PPP and Design-Build Specifications.
  • Provide Design and Constructability peer review.

Technical Due Diligence

Technical Due Diligence is an important part of any financial
transaction
involving infrastructure assets. micp-engineering experience allows us to assess the integrity of existing assets or projects yet to
build. Our technical qualifications together with our experience on site, provides us with an exceptional insight to review and comment on multidisciplinary projects.

Value Engineering

Value Engineering can provide safer and cost effective solutions on any given project. micp-engineering provides a helpful insight throughout the life of a project, from procurement to construction. Our knowledge of
the built environment, gives us the skill to review and propose innovative solutions to increase performance and reduce construction costs.
This knowledge is particularly important during bidding stages, but it is also an exercise to be performed before Detail Design is launched.

  • Review of the overall project budget, with a special attention
on the items with a higher cost percentage (bridges, embankments, tunnels, foundations, ground treatment, etc.)
  • Evaluate PPP and Design-Build specifications, to guarantee
    the understanding of requirements.
  • Imagine new solutions, in order to reduce cost and facilitate constructability (ex: reduce traffic management).
  • Compare technical solutions, performing calculation and quantities take-off to provide objective comparisons.
